Chainlink CCIP Launches on Solana, Linking $19B in Assets
Chainlink’s CCIP is now live on Solana, enabling cross-chain transfers between Solana and major blockchains like Ethereum and BNB Chain.
Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Protocol Goes Live on Solana
Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) is now operational on Solana, marking its first deployment on a non-Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) blockchain via the v1.6 upgrade. The integration aims to enable secure cross-chain asset and data transfers between Solana and networks like Ethereum, BNB Chain, and Arbitrum.
The upgrade allows projects such as Maple Finance, Shiba Inu, and Backed Finance to expand tokenized assets into Solana’s ecosystem using Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Token (CCT) standard. Collectively, these tokens represent over $19 billion in market value. CCIP’s v1.6 update also reduces transaction costs and streamlines architecture for scaling across hundreds of blockchains.
Chainlink’s infrastructure, which secures billions in decentralized finance (DeFi) total value locked (TVL), will support Solana’s high-speed, low-fee environment. In the release shared with Bitcoin.com News, Johann Eid, chief business officer at Chainlink Labs, stated the integration positions Solana to attract institutional capital and deepen liquidity for tokenized real-world assets (RWAs).
Maple Finance co-founder Joe Flanagan highlighted CCIP’s role in expanding institutional participation, noting its syrupUSD stablecoin will bridge to Solana. Artificial intelligence (AI) platform ElizaOS plans to use CCIP for cross-chain autonomous agent transactions, per founder Shaw Walters.
Chainlink already provides price feeds and data streams to Solana protocols like GMX- Solana and Kamino Finance. Additional CCIP-enabled bridges, including Openocean and Transporter, are integrating Solana support.
The launch follows CCIP’s expansion to several major blockchains, with further non-EVM compatibility expected. Solana becomes the latest network in a system facilitating billions in cross-chain transactions to date.
